Witchcraft and the supernatural - experiences

Do you guys believe in anything like this?

If you have any experiences of witchcraft or the supernatural then I would love to hear it.

  • I guess you just didn’t tikka all the boxes..Confused

  • I once tried to nurse a wounded chicken back to life, but it slipped into a korma...

  • Someone told me robins are past loved ones coming back to see us. She also said she can feel when one is watching her from behind.

  • They appear when I’m going through unusually revelatory times.. Robins do especially human-like stuff at me and I see them at no other time..

  • But unlike many, many other religious systems our faith (almost uniquely) does not actually instruct us to kill

Here are many dozens of examples from the bible to the contrary:

    https://www.openbible.info/topics/killing_non_believers

Of course it is a book thousands of years out of date, full of obsolete and often misleading detail typically narrated from long after the deaths of the people claiming to be the writers and has been modified by interested parties throughout history, but then again it is a core part of the Christian religion.

Seems par for the course from most religions from what I have seen though - not picking on Christianity.

Any personal faith is absolutely fine by me, but religions are the greatest evil ever invented in my opinion. Worse than those wonky wheels on supermarket trolleys and that is saying something...

  • If that's what you find interesting about Christianity I guess so.

What humans did with the faith AFTER it was given us by God is hardly the fault of the faith.

Some Christians did far worse than swap a few dates around.

But unlike many, many other religious systems our faith (almost uniquely) does not actually instruct us to kill or dominate the unbelievers.

  • It is interesting to see how Christianity has been an incredible marketing machine through the millenia to allow it to convert other religions to be Christian.

Look at traditions like Christmas - this is nothing to do with Christs birthday:

    https://historycooperative.org/pagan-origins-of-christmas/

The origins of Christmas can be traced back to the ancient Roman and Norse civilizations. In fact, 25th December was not even Jesus’ date of birth. The early Christians appropriated what was originally a pagan holiday because it was convenient. Before that, the people of ancient Europe had celebrations of the pagan god Saturn or even Odin at the end of December to mark the shortest day of the year. Indeed, many of the Christmas traditions we have today come from these ancient festivals.

Easter is also only loosely connected to Christs death:

    https://www.ancient-origins.net/myths-legends/ancient-pagan-origins-easter-001571

While Easter, as we know it today, was never a  pagan festival , its roots and many of its traditions have associations with ancient pagan customs and beliefs.

The same goes for lots of events throughout the year - most were adaptations of other religions major celebrations that were cunningly  repackaged in a way that allowed any converted religion to keep their current population happy that their beliefs were not being cancelled. A generation or two later the meaning of the origins started to fade and it just became a part of the landscape.

    Clever people those christian directors.

The motto of the story - don't believe what you are told without doing some research, unless you are content in your ignorance.

  • Although Halloween is reputed to be Irish in origin where the early Irish Christians incorporated the older Celtic traditions into the early Irish Church, the Catholic Church disapproved of witchcraft in the centuries afterwards - Irish Immigrants brought the concept of Halloween to America where it was shaped into the tradition that we see today, but the Catholic Church has the Feasts of All Saints and All Souls around this time while still disapproving of witchcraft, as no devout Catholic is supposed to engage with any of this stuff, as it’s calling forth evil spirits

  • I've had some occult experiences forced upon me.

Then I've done a bit of experimenting, just to kinda see if the basics are "real".

I learned 2 things about the occult knowledge.

    1. A lot of people who take it up as a lifestyle, seem to go a bit bonkers. (Sorry, if any practicioner feels slighted, but that's been my observation as an independent non-religious (at the time) observer.)

    2. It's like any other specialised field of knowledge, and very similar indeed to engineering (I think that's why I got the interest) in that if you don't know what you are doing, you can get "burnt" and learning how to do it without a mentor who knows you well to guide you is likely to be frustrating and dangerous, unless you are being used in some way. If you do enough and work hard with some practices you will meet different (and I mean different) entities.

That's all the truth I have to tell, about a HUGE subject.

Please note: the field is full of misinformation, dishonesty, and to honest, plain ignorance of common sense.

The cautions I have given, should not be ignored, they came from watching people "get it wrong" some of whom (just like those who took up drugs or motorcyling or aviation) are no longer with us in this world, and some others are "maimed" by their experiences...

  • we still have them economically too, they are called landlords lol

  • We actually still use leeches in the medical context for both humans and animals.

  • witchcraft i believe was just actually herbalism and early medicine.

also it may have also been taking magic mushrooms too... of which older religions has shaman that were supposedly magically gifted and supernatural and had visions but yet those were just the product of consuming magic mushrooms...

thats where it all came from... but yet, mushrooms arnt entirely needed, just vivid dreams and thought on them. i have had many dreams and thought on them, some have became pretty prophetic and some were out of body types which even proved it was real and saw a instance into the future after i woke up. there is a odd thing we dont know about when we go to sleep, the dream world i believe is perhaps indeed connected to something that can be spiritual and that is perhaps one place were shamanism and so on comes from... perhaps the mushrooms just connect you more strongly to this dream world and its the same thing and the same realm.

but as standard withcraft though, thats mainly herbalism, and alchemy and so on. early medicine. which people turned against as they held onto their outdated older medical ideas like draining blood with leeches and drilling holes in the head to relieve pressure.

  • I studied Wicca at school and found it really interesting. I dabbled in understanding runes, etc.

Where I live in England has a very significant spiritual and energy experience. Many people gravitate here for these reasons.

The only thing I can ever say really happened to me though is that I once fully experienced Jesus standing next to me on a beach in Portugal. That is particularly weird for me to say, because I am a strict atheist. And always have been. Don't believe in Jesus. But it's the only way I can describe it. And I wasn't hallucinating, I only drank alcohol.

    Weird.

  • That's interesting... do you look out for them? Or when you see one, think, maybe it's a sign?

  • Robins and Sparrows.. weal and woe..

  • No that’s more of a ‘special’ effect..Sweat smile

  • I believe in the supernatural presence of some birds, I only say it because it is my experience though, some of these interactions only occur for me in certain situations

There was a instance with a tandoori chicken that had a very spooky effect on me not long after eating it - is that what you mean?

  • I believe in the supernatural presence of some birds, I only say it because it is my experience though, some of these interactions only occur for me in certain situations. When those situations arose, they were always marked by birds, the correct kind of bird for each situation..Thinking
