Light in Stool TW details

What does this mean? Mostly it's normal coloured but there are light bits amongst it which are unsettling and worrying me at the moment. This has been ongoing for me for about a month now and is accompanied by abdominal pain, generally all over though today localised lower left side.

I think it's IBS and stress as I suffer from both. No bleeding or anything like that just pain and odd colours on it. Get the usual jelly like residue but that is definitely down to IBS.

Should mention I drink pretty much only sugary drinks so this could be the result of that.

Anyone who's had this please reply as I'm quite worried about it right now.

So I'm thinking cut out the fanta, sprite and cola yes? Should I eat more as well? I'd rather deal with this myself than see the doctor if I can.

  • I’m sorry you’re feeling unwell, you’ve got this, feel better..:)

  • Lol I kind of wish I had xD

Went to the doctors this morning but was referred to hospital as she felt a lump on my abdomen. Not a great day but hoping to unwind here for A bit

  • Hi sorry it was unintentional I was just worried. Won't happen again.

  • I think it probably *is* your IBS, I know I've had things like this happen.

    Hi thanks for replying.

Yes I think you're right, I've since spoken to my GP and she thinks it's my IBS as well. She wants me to alter my diet and see how that goes over the next week and if it doesn't improve we'll investigate it further.

I'm also on the list for a nutritionist. So hoping this will lead to better things for me.

  • Hi thank you for replying.

I've seen my GP and she's thinking it is IBS so I'm going to try and alter my diet and improve it to see if it makes things better.

I'll keep this short as I accidentally broke the rules when I did this thread.

Thank you for the support and help though it's greatly appreciated Slight smile

  • Ignoring the colour variation for the moment, having faecal matter look like musket balls is not ideal. It is fairly obvious that you are not getting enough fibre in your diet. Fibre gives the stool its mass, and allows the muscles in the intestine something to work on. Without a reasonable amount of fibre you get uneven pressure in the colon which can cause problems in the long term, such as diverticular disease. I have diverticular disease and it is not much fun. The white patches might be due to problems with the digestion of fats and the production of bile and the functioning of the gall bladder. If you continue to experience these symptoms you really should see a GP.

When I was really ill with my IBS I ended up going to see a dietitian and it helped a lot- I wasn't getting enough calories or vitamins in and she helped me to gain weight and have healthier bowel movements while working within the restrictions that my sensory issues and food intolerances imposed. It made a huge difference and eventually I was able to eat more than previously because I wasn't in pain and feeling sick all the time. I would really recommend it, dietitians and nutritionists are often more knowledgeable about things like autism than other health professionals because autistic people are more prone to digestive issues and eating disorders.

  • Thank you Iain!

My extremely poor diet is responsible for the majority of my problems to be honest and the autism as well is just a lot of rubbish occuring all at the same time. I will try to get myself a nutritionist. Help with my diet would be great as though I try I just don't like the taste and texture of most foods and drinks, and then worry if something disagrees with me.

I might look at doing vitamins as well because I think I'm deficient in some if not all vitamins.

Thanks for your help it is really good of you and I appreciate you taking the time. Thanks Blush

  • Speak to a nutritionist to get a well balanced diet that will take your IBS, your preferences and your autistic traits in relation to food into consideration.

They shoul also be able to have follow up chats to adjust things if you have difficulties following the diet.

This doesn't mean you will be eating salad or cabbage water - it means you get a diet with food you can tolerate in portions that are healthy for you and with enough treats to allow you to maintain it.

That would be my recommendation - then once you have been on it for a month or so, go back to your fimus (the study of poop: https://www.futurity.org/study-of-poop-name-1986742/ )
