Diagnosis at last

Hey everyone.

Not been on for a while as life was getting a bit much trying to get an assessment for my son. After 22 months of waiting we finally got there and have been given a diagnosis of Aspergers. This hasconcluded an 11 yr fight I have had for someone to agree that there is something and not my parenting.

Now we have the diagnosis where do I start? I have informed relatives and the school. I have had so many different emotions this week. Anger, Tearful, but most of all relief that someone has finally listened. Would be great for some advice and what to do next

  • Like you I've battled for 10 years for a diagnosis of Autism for my son. He's been labeled as a naughty child, shy and it's heart breaking as like you I knew there was something else. Finally after going to a new school things fell into place and I was finally listened to. Hopefully in the next two weeks his diagnosis will be confirmed and I can start moving forward. It's heart warming to know others have achieved what I've begun and it spurs me on. Good luck with your future take each day as it comes and never give up are children are worth the fight....
