Autism and dizzy balance problems

Why do I and others with autism suffer with dizzy and balance? Is it linked with the autism or is it anxiety involved as well? I have both. I get it most of the time and it disrupts my sleep and daily life

  • Dizziness can be an ear problem, nothing to do with autism.  Alternatively, yes indeed, your sensory profile might mean that your balance and or proprioception can be affected. I used to get really dizzy going up and down stairs as a kid.  I was frightened and used to shuffle down on my bottom.

  • I've toppled over and fell, numerous times But i don't thimk it's anything to do with me being autistic, I have Hypothyroidism, I'd never even heard of it. But the nurse in the hospital said your thyroids control just about every organ in your body, head-to-toe. I've just been given a certificate which declares me partially sighted. Both the RNIB and the Social Services who have helped with adaptations here at my home. Both say i should get a carer. But this is where the autism comes in. For the moment at least, i'd rather struggle than have someone coming into my house.
