How do you deal with constant messages?

How do you deal with people who message you constantly?

My boyfriend’s mum messages me on Facebook numerous times a day. She will say ‘you ok?’ At least twice a day, sometimes up to five times!! She sends me random photos constantly (last week in just one day she sent me a photo of her sideboard, a photo of her toe and a photo of a wooden clock). She takes screenshots of things from Facebook and sends them to me with no explanation. Her messages are chit chat and offer no substance. I hate chit chat. My family know not to message me unless they want to talk about something important but she just sends me utter rubbish. She has done this for years. It sends my anxiety levels through the roof. My boyfriend has told her numerous times to stop but she doesn’t. I’ve ignored her, muted her etc but nothing makes her stop. I’ve even told her I don’t like it and to stop and she still doesn’t.

It makes me want to delete my Facebook just to get away from it. She keeps asking for my phone number which I’ve obviously not given her! What do I do?!

  • This sounds like a joke reply but it really isn't, Some days I just turn off my phone. And trust that if it's a true emergency someone would come round and knock on my door or call my landline instead, then I turn my mobile back on the day after after I have had a good break from it.
And some apps that are the worst offenders I just delete from my phone and resolve to get to messages from those sites in my own time when I sit down at my PC instead.
Other apps I chage to silent notifications so I will see the messages in my own time when I pick up my phone for something else later.
Also I know it feels like another social fax pas that maybe we aren't supposed to do but you %100 can block your boyfriend's mum and explain or not explain it made you feel uncomfortable, and you are perfectly valid for doing so because it's not her you are in a relationship with. If anything she's doing the weird thing.
