My Health

Struggling with my physical health right now, not feeling well and to make it worse mentally I feel like rubbish. Phoned my mental health team this morning and spoke to Kelly who clearly couldn't care less about me and my situation. The call was only a few minutes. She asked what I normally do when I feel low and I said sometimes listen to music and she said okay I'll leave you to do that, hung up.

It's really frustrating when the people who are meant to help you don't want to help at all and don't care. I have a cancer nurse and team but some of my problems aren't related to that so I can't call them about this.

Feel so disappointed and alone.

  • Ultimately I guess we are all alone and compassion kindness and help do not  actually come often. There is no magic wand and we do need to find a way to get what we need . Neurotypics seem expert, but we seem to speak a different language and few understand us about the major complex issues.

What can you do? Well my line is listening to positive affirmations on Spotify , meditating on your achievements with nice background sounds ( wind, water, birds, music). Spend time with people who make you feel good (if you have any).

I'm trying to get a good research based input into how we address these problems . Sounds like Kelly was a neurotypical with a big ego and using your problems to help her to do little useful for you or others, while getting paid for supposedly helping. I think the concept of help is abused by many, who are just helping themselves

  • I completely agree with everything you said above. What you do to feel better seems to work for you, I'm glad about that. I don't have a lot that works for me though I am defos going to try what you have said you do, just to see if it works for me as well. I call 111 and Samaritans nearly every day so if I can find something that will help me not need to do that then that would be fab.
