Having trouble cleaning my room

I’m 14 with asd and I have struggled with keeping my room clean for a while. I want to be able to have my space clean and relatively tidy, but it’s just so difficult. It feels so overwhelming and like I can never get it under control. Any tips?

  • Yeah.. Executive-functioning is the ability to: start-doing something, change something you’re doing, or stop-doing something; autistic-people commonly are lumbered with poor executive-function.
A good-way to circumvent this issue is to tie a special-interest of yours to the act of keeping your space clean. So my advice is to consider what you find interesting, which doesn’t necessary mean a hobby but rather something you need to do, and rope your pursuit of-that-end to having a tidy-space.
Two things really-helped me to manifest a behaviour of staying tidy; one is that I had an unstable living-situation and needed to stay light-in-assets, two is that I had room-inspections and hated being caught-unawares.
    I hope this helps..Slight smile
