Phone calls dread

Hello All,

Does anyone else here dislike talking to the people on the phone and dread making or receiving phone calls?

I don't like speaking to people on the phone and would rather text, WhatsApp, Skype or email people.  If I do use the phone it is only to speak to my husband, my dad or for work.  I always like to keep telephone conversations short as well.

Does anyone else have this issue?  Talking to people on the phone seems to be making me more and more anxious the older I get.

Thanks for your time :-)

  • I use online chat help as much as possible, but sometimes you have to call someone.  My GP Surgery decided to put in a call waiting system over the pandemic with the most suicide inducing pan pipe music I have ever heard.  It now has a message about how the staff don't like being abused over the phone.  Obviously if they got rid of the music, the amount of abuse might drop. After 20 mins of pan pipe music I just want to flip out.

At least the hospital let you press # to switch off the music.

The other day it was the Indian HMRC scammers that called.  I forgot where I was for a second and when Sanjay told me he was calling from HMRC about a court case for unpaid tax, I was happy to tell him he wasn't from HMRC and he should F Off.  My parent's looked at me like WTF.  To be fair this was 10 mins after I got out of bed and before my first coffee.
