Phone calls dread

Hello All,

Does anyone else here dislike talking to the people on the phone and dread making or receiving phone calls?

I don't like speaking to people on the phone and would rather text, WhatsApp, Skype or email people.  If I do use the phone it is only to speak to my husband, my dad or for work.  I always like to keep telephone conversations short as well.

Does anyone else have this issue?  Talking to people on the phone seems to be making me more and more anxious the older I get.

Thanks for your time :-)

  • Yes, I hate phone calls with strangers. Waiting for the call to come gives me anxiety, and dialling the number myself also fills me with dread. For me it gets better with exposure but then it gets worse if I don't do it for a while.

In my first year of uni I imposed a regime of self-improvement on myself and I signed up to work phoning up alumni to schmooze them into making donations. I had to psych myself up to call every single number, and I ended each shift drenched in sweat. I also harmed alumni relations with my social blunders...
