Phone calls dread

Hello All,

Does anyone else here dislike talking to the people on the phone and dread making or receiving phone calls?

I don't like speaking to people on the phone and would rather text, WhatsApp, Skype or email people.  If I do use the phone it is only to speak to my husband, my dad or for work.  I always like to keep telephone conversations short as well.

Does anyone else have this issue?  Talking to people on the phone seems to be making me more and more anxious the older I get.

Thanks for your time :-)

  • Hi Ruth

I can relate to this as I have a real dread of talking on the phone. I can get extremely anxious if a number I don't recognise calls my mobile too.

I've always found ending phone calls weirdly awkward. I never seen to know what to say to end a conversation or end up talking over the top of the other person by accident.

I'd rather email too or keep calls as short as possible.

I also switched my answer phone on my mobile off because even listening to answer phone messages made me anxious.

So you're definitely not alone there!
