New here, awaiting a referal

Hello,

My 4 year old has been recently diagnosed with hypermobility characteristics. The physiotherapists asked what he was like at school, as many autistic children have hypermobility syndrome.

I filled her in on what he was like, and she has referred him to a pediatrician, they have written to the school, and they have sent a report back on Matthew, so we are now waiting for an appt.

He has been going to nursery for over a year, where he will not talk or play with any other children. He tends to stand back and watch the other children, rather than join in.

He often cries in school, and gets very upset if there is any change to routine. I am very nervous about his assessment, and don't know what to expect.

Any advice, or what to expect next would be great,

thanks

Sue

  • Hello,

Thanks for the reply, trying to not sound totally in the dark, but what is a statement? and will I be entitled to benefits, he will be starting full time school in September, and I am so nervous for him. The thought of him having to go into the hall for dinners, I know will scare him.
