anyone used independent speech therapist?

Hi!

My 9 yer old son has autism and serious communication problems but our PCT refused to provide any services that involves speech therapists.

I am now looking for an independent speech therapist.  Wodnering if there are anyone who used (or are currently using) an independent speech therapist? How is your experience? How mcuh does it cost? I live in West Midlands. Any independent speech therapists that you can recommend?

I've checked website of speech therapists in independent practice and sent e-mail to a fews therapists but none of them have replied!

  • hi again - yes it's v sad, to put it mildly.  Perhaps the nas helpline could help you or maybe someone in your area may respond to your post.  Perhaps your gp may know.    You've obviously been trying yourself but they can't be short of work if they're not even bothering to respond.  Sorry I can't be of more help + also if I'm suggesting things you've already tried.   bw
