anyone used independent speech therapist?

Hi!

My 9 yer old son has autism and serious communication problems but our PCT refused to provide any services that involves speech therapists.

I am now looking for an independent speech therapist.  Wodnering if there are anyone who used (or are currently using) an independent speech therapist? How is your experience? How mcuh does it cost? I live in West Midlands. Any independent speech therapists that you can recommend?

I've checked website of speech therapists in independent practice and sent e-mail to a fews therapists but none of them have replied!

anyone knows?

    My son has selective mutism and can't "rebel" feeling (every feeling he perceives is either "happy" or "not happy",and if he is not happy he gets melt-down, this is only way he can experss his negative feelings), can't tell if he is in ill or pain (he misses the right timing of treatment), he can't express his needs (resulting in "wet himself", as he can't tell the teacher he needs toilet). PCT told me that he is not serious enougth to have SALT. Very sad.....
