PIP - Any stories/info to help??

Hello,

I have recently been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and was told I was entitled to the dreaded PIP.

I applied, went to the assessment and got no points and went to appeal and got no points. I have been told that

it is a very arbitrary process some get it, some don't in effect it is like a lottery!

The problem being that because of all the cuts there are practically no specialised disability advisors out there

to help you filling in the form.

I need some help with this as my finances are at an all time low and I can't go on like this.

Would anybody out there who was successful in their claim be willing to share some of the information which they

disclosed on their form as I am sure that we all have similar symptoms/disabilities but the wording is very important

in the claim.

As part of the Autism family I feel it is important to stick together in light of all the cuts which we all know the reason

for!!

We can be strong together!!!

Much love,

xxx

Please go to your Council Welfare Rights team or

CAB citizens advice bureau Customer Services for your council will tell you how or where to contact them. In my county Customer Services is often in the local library.

or possibly Mind ( but not sure about that)

Benefits and Work website it will give suggestions for the answers which might be appropriate and show you the way to answer; but give your own answers. If you subscribe there are whole sections on filling in Pip, ESA and Appeals. They are thoughtful and not patronising. There are suggestions for physical and mental health issues. There may be other websites which do this but B&W has helped me. It takes a long time if you do it properly but get someone to help you to do it with you. It is a mistake to do it by yourself.

Yes I do get Pip but I have a cross section of multiple issues and so do not get it for autism alone.

  • You need to be ready to fight or simply go through the process without any emotions.

A lot of people give up as the process the horrible.

  • The situation we are experiencing is one that they are trying to create California.

We must remain as strong and positive as possible.

Strength together as part of a group is far more powerful than each on our own.

It is hard I think but not impossible.  Good Luck!

  • I also would like to apply but I am still waiting for the diagnosis.

I wish I could help you but I am also still trying to understand how the system works.

I have read a lot of threads about this and most of the people are also struggling with this and are unhappy with the process and the experience.
