How can I cope with this.

Lately, both my parents have been fighting quite a bit. Not phisically, mind you. There's a lot of tention in the air when they talk about each other and they have both tole me many times that they would be happier apart, even though I know they don't eally mean it.

The preblem is, they constantly involve me in their argument. I can't cope very will with confrontation of any kind and when I'm forced to live with it, my mind pushes it into overlode and I break down. I have tried explaining this to them on many ocassion, and they promis that they will never involve me again, but they always do. I'm so scared about the whole situation right now. I know it's childish for someone my age, and I know it's not as bad as I think it is at that moment in time, but I just can't cope with it. One of my Parents has AS as well as I do and always seems to think that the rest of the house is against them. I don't know what to do if they want to involve me.

How do I mentally prepare myself for something that can come out of the blue like that.

Thank you.

  • As no-one else has ventured to reply Kabi, I thought I could at least draw attention to a book about family relationships where aspergers is a factor: Karen E Rodman 1988 "Asperger's Syndrome and Adults... Is Anyone Listening? Essays and Poems by Partners, Parents and Family Members of Adults with Asperger's Syndrome" Jessica Kingsley Publishers.

It refers to a website called FAAAS (Families of Adults Afflicted with Aspersper's Syndrome) which is American and I'm not sure if it is still around, but something similar may exist that caters for family members affected by the behavious of adults with AS.

So somewhere out there there must be similar situations to your own that you could explore, even if they are American in character.

I hope some more suggestions come forth soon.
