I've really got into playing the Sims game over the past few months on Xbox and have just bought a gaming PC and the PC version of the game. I was so excited to see how much better it was than the Xbox version and made the mistake of talking to two of my work colleagues who I get on with quite well about it. Reactions were "everyone to their own" (my translation: "you're weird") and an amused " how old are you?" (My translation: "you're a bit childish, aren't you?) I got flustered and embarrassed and couldn't think of a witty reply.
But afterwards I thought; yeah, I'm a 56 year old woman, so what? I make an effort to take an interest in my female colleagues' chat about their kids & grandchildren and a male colleague's obsession with football. I don't say to the women " I'm not interested in kids actually, but everyone to their own". I don't ask the football fanatic why he hasn't grown out of playing with balls!
So, are there any Sims players out there? Or female gamers? Do you have anyone you can share your interest with or do people around you just think you're weird?
