Your GP surgery must also run some sort of an out of hours service. If you want advice then it may be better to call them and speak to the on-call doctor than to go to A&E.

  • I think it is the chemist who has made the mistake, not the GP.  Are they open today?  If so, take the rest back and get them changed.  Otherwise do as state of independence says and cut them into quarters.  I take a similar drug, and I can't cope without them daily, .  Hope it helps.

  • Yes, you do not have to give him the pills. It is not as if he has been on this high dose for a long time, so he won't have sudden withdrawal effects.

If he really needs the meds you could cut the 2mg tablet into quarters, or if it is a capsule, take it apart and divide the contents into quarters, and give him the quarter dose in food.

I would also be looking to make an official complaint, and/or changing GP.
