my daughter has mild autism she is doing access to higher education course at college and is applying to universities to train as a nurse, will her autism stop my daughter from getting a job as a nurse thankyou

  • I would advise against her disclosing that she is autistic. My autistic niece is doing a similar course and is applying for a university place to study nursing. Theres a great deal of competition for places and the medical profession still sees autism as something negative. After a bit of contact with those who teach nursing we're convinced that saying you're autistic is a bad idea fo someone wanting to go into nursing. They'll make all the right noises but you won't get a place.
