[Content warning: discussion of rape and sexual assault] –Russel Brand, GUILTY

Of rape and sexual assault, has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on Monday, to what the judge called a significant prison sentence. The Met have said they have to further cases against him that are before the CPS.

I really hope this case shines a light on the men who think they're entitled by fame to abuse any woman they choose.I hope the person who's currently asking the courts to stop him being named as a sexual abuser, because he might "try and kill himself" if named, gets told, no and that freedom of the press matters and that the women he's alledged of assaulting can have their day in court after a full and thorough investigation.

This comes on top of TWO cases currently before the courts of men accused of drugging their wives, raping them, photographing and filming them and asking other men to come and do the same.

I think Madam Pelicot has opened the floodgates on the amount of depravity some men are capable of. Apparently its quite a common fantasy among men, to want to have sex with an unconious woman!

  • One of the things that interests me with this thread is that with the exception of Sharon Mod, who's posting because of her job, that all the posts I can see are from men and none appear to be from women and I'm wondering why that is?

Could it be that even here women are afraid to speak up for fear of being gaslit and/or judged?

  • Thanks, your name is genderless, which is great, I enjoy talking to people without preconceptions of gender and stuff, I think it keeps conversations honest.

But I did raise the lack of women posting on this thread, because apart from the two of us it seems there are none. Although I'm glad that so many men have answered and for the most part its been free of the usual gender wars these threads so often seem to provoke. Issues around sexual assault and power can never be resolved unless men help in calling it out as unacceptable. It's just a shame that with this particular case being about the sexual abuse of women that no other women feel able to contribute

  • Lol, no worries. Slight smile I must be honest about my personal posting, I don't know if it is possibly the same for others or if I'm just out of touch. I don't usually post my personal opinion as, I'm not a nasty person I think, but I have very different views on gender/trans/ and other 'woke' opinions than I see expressed on this site. I don't offer up my opinion a lot as I don't want to be banned, or indeed upset anyone. For instance, a while ago I was recommended a book by a poster but was warned that it was by 'A middle aged white woman.' I didn't say anything at the time, but as a 'middle aged white woman' myself I wondered what's so offensive about me?! and indded was offended myself.

I never knew this sub world of autism existed until I used this site. The labels and identities.

I'm sorry if I'm going off topic, I don't know quite how to explain it otherwise?

I do very much agree with you that  violence agnist woman and girls will never end until men start calling out other men on their behaviour and words.
