Offer an Interview Scheme

I am currently applying for jobs after being made redundant over a year ago.

Many of the employers are “disability confident” and run an “offer an interview” scheme. This means that if you declare a disability - like autism - and meet the essential criteria for a role, you will ‘normally be offered an interview”.

But I am experiencing many instances of not being offered an interview at all, even though I’ve disclosed a disability and certainly do meet the essential criteria.

Is anyone else having this experience?

I have also been made redundant recently and applied for numerous roles with disability confident employers and have received standard rejection email. I have asked for further information about a specific role where I believe I met the essential criteria but have received a mixed response that raises more questions. I contacted Scope the charity and they offer support for autistic adults looking for employment. They can help with job applications and interviews, so this might be of interest to you.
