I have my PIP interview tomorrow.
Can anyone tell me what to expect or any tips on what to say?
I am a bit worried about it.

i wrote a similar remark to yours in my complaint ( ie : a quick call and being able to go out and say hello to supermarket staff once a week doesnt mean i can function in public - she literally put that in her report because i can say hi to someone once a week im fine ) I put in my complaint that she had made a lot of assumptions from a brief phone call with me and completely misunderstood the stress and anxiety during the socialising and the aftermath . i honestly wrote everything as though its my worst day . she changed all the wording to minimize my struggles and awarded me 0 points .
I wouldnt worry - regardless of what you say they most likely score you down - or even more likely, if its only Autism you have, award you 0 points.
The system largely works on interview followed by 0 points, followed by Mandatory Reconsideration - with potentially 0 points again or some points (but not enough for a PIP award) , followed by an appeal - where you stand a much great chance of getting an award ( I beliebe for Autism this can be ~60% of appeals are in the applicants favour) - but this could be 18 months after your original application date. If awarded it gets back dataed to the date your first applied
you may of had the call already - so hope it went well - but don't worry - just see it as a necessary stepping stone to proceed towards an appeal which is your best chance
Yeah I've been hereing horry story on how there are treating the people like there are not human.
I cant believe my pip review has come before the LCWRA. i actually applied for pip quite some time after LCWRA . I also cant believe how the pip assessors can get away with straight up lying . i went through every point where she had changed what i said and contradicted herself in the report ive emailed it in and am waiting for an acknowledgment and hopefully an apology , i also felt pressed into answering some questions i told her i had no answers to . These people should be held accountable, its soul destroying to know you suffered so much stress for someone to lie and dismiss it . Im really dreading that my LCWRA assessor will be as bad as the pip one . Anyway sorry about the rant .
Hopefully your appeal is more positive. 'I can't see why he can't function in public' is an opinion. In my job we are only to note facts. Even if you could function sometimes it doesn't mean that is always the case and therefore may not be able to function in a job or work full time. Yesterday I heard that people with MS are being refused too because they can function sometimes. All the advice on applying tells you to put details of when things are most difficult, so we would expect them to assess in this way.
in the most pleasant way ... im glad someone else has experienced it . Its like 50 years of mental health issues and inability to cope was brushed aside . and now we have to go through it all again, doesnt shock me why so many people give up as it makes you feel like worthless and like a complete liar .
Hi Magnolia,
I can see the community have already been sharing useful tips. The National Autistic Society has a guide for PIP and features some further links which you may find useful: https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/benefits-and-money/benefits/types-of-benefit/personal-independence-payment
I hope it goes well today and well done on applying for PIP I know the form is lengthy and can be stressful to fill out.
Best wishes,
Alice Mod
Hi magnolia1 personal independent payment interview will last about 45 minutes you will stand a high chance of recieving this if you have autism they will ask you various questions they should have empathy towards your condition and make it a hassle free interview.
Just had mine , horror story . She changed every time i said "cant cope " to "struggles to cope". I got judged as though just because i got through a 1 hour call im fine in social situations . im still waiting for my autism assessment ( over 2 years ) so she also put down at every instance possible " undiagnosed autism see no reason why he cant function in public . I also got the "didnt sound nervous on the phone even though phone calls are extremely awkward and i was pacing and stimming through the whole call she claims i sounded fine. . I requested the PA4 so got to see all of her comments . i have since officially complained about her conduct and will be requesting a mandatory reconsideration when dwp send my letter . Hopefully you get a reasonable assessor . You can request your PA4 within 24 hours of the text arriving to see how its gone and if they have awarded points or not. Good luck .
