PIP Interview

I have my PIP interview tomorrow.

Can anyone tell me what to expect or any tips on what to say?

I am a bit worried about it.

  • I've got my PIP assment next week and I have no idea what to expect, but from the letter I got it sounds like its going to be another autism assement on the phone.

  • Just had mine , horror story . She changed every time i said "cant cope " to "struggles to cope". I got judged as though just because i got through a 1 hour call im fine in social situations . im still waiting for my autism assessment ( over 2 years ) so she also put down at every instance possible "  undiagnosed autism see no reason why he cant function in public . I also got the "didnt sound nervous on the phone even though phone calls are extremely awkward and i was pacing and stimming through the whole call she claims i sounded fine. . I requested the PA4 so got to see all of her comments . i have since officially complained about her conduct and will be requesting a mandatory reconsideration when dwp send my letter  .  Hopefully you get a reasonable assessor . You can request your PA4 within 24 hours of the  text arriving to see how its gone and if they have awarded points or not. Good luck .

  • Hopefully your appeal is more positive. 'I can't see why he can't function in public' is an opinion. In my job we are only to note facts. Even if you could function sometimes it doesn't mean that is always the case and therefore may not be able to function in a job or work full time. Yesterday I heard that people with MS are being refused too because they can function sometimes. All the advice on applying tells you to put details of when things are most difficult, so we would expect them to assess in this way.

  • i wrote a similar remark to yours in my complaint ( ie : a quick call and being able to go out and say hello to supermarket staff once a week doesnt mean i can function in public - she literally put that in her report because i can say hi to someone once a week im fine  ) I put in my complaint that she had made a lot of assumptions from a brief phone call with me and completely misunderstood the stress and anxiety during the socialising and the aftermath .  i honestly wrote everything as though its my worst day . she changed all the wording to minimize my struggles and awarded me 0 points .
