Describing sensitivity

Hi, I have been trying to describe how certain sensitivities affect me. I have found it so difficult to put it into words. All I have been able to say is that the sounds are painful but without physical pain. Clothes and some materials feel scratchy to the point of feeling complete despair, smells are so potent that I can’t breathe. But my line manager thinks I am overreacting and told me to stop being a wimp. Does anybody else find it difficult to explain these things and does anybody have any ideas of how to put this into words?

Thank you

  • I am sorry your manager doesn't understand. I think mine might be getting the idea, then something happens and I don't think they get the extent of the difficulty. I would describe the sensitivities having such a strong effect that it can make it difficult to concentrate on what I am doing. I totally get what you mean about noise, sometimes I want to cover myself in a shell to avoid loud sounds around me. at home which is where I work from now.
