Fighting burnout / meltdown / stress

I'm going to university in September and I filled out the financial forms wrong and I'm struggling to fill them out correctly. The deadline was the 15th. On top of that I'm struggling to finish my last unit of college because of all the stress and over the last 2 weeks there have been too many changes and I narrowly avoided a meltdown at work over something seemingly small to many.

Overall I'm struggling a lot and I don't think most of the neurotypical support services will understand.

  • It sounds like you've had several major stressors hit at the same time, which can make even small tasks feel overwhelming. The financial aid forms, college deadlines, work pressures, and upcoming transition to university would be a lot for anyone to manage. If possible, consider reaching out to your university's student support or disability services team, as they may be able to provide guidance that is better suited to your specific needs. Try to focus on one issue at a time rather than tackling everything at once. I hope things become more manageable for you soon.

  • Hey  I'm sorry to hear about the overwhelming trouble you've been having. Juggling lots of tasks can be very exhausting.

Helping to identify burnout causes and symptoms is really helpful for me personally, so I feel better equipped to create solutions. One of my burnout causes is routine change (big or small), and a symptom of that is emotional regulation. I can snap at people quite quickly, and go from being very hyper to grumpy quite quickly.

That then helps me identify helping mechanisms like setting boundaries, reducing tasks, and trying to stay calm in routine change. I've also created some positive and simple habits like playing with my cats, solely listening to music, and doing some word searches. This framework is a massive game-changer for me, and I hope something similar helps you, too. Where possible, simplicity is king
