Interesting story. I've always found it worthwhile getting copies of medical records. I got the letter from the psychiatrist who diagnosed me, several years after the diagnosis, and I got a copy of the GP's referral letter about 10 years after that.
It is worth noting though that notes are literally that... Notes. They aren't necessarily 100% correct. They may just be a memory jogger for the person who wrote it. But that obviously becomes a problem if inaccuracies find their ways into referral letters.
