With AI taking so many jobs, especially at entry level and things like supermarkets etc, do you think there should be a universal benefit to compensate for the loss of jobs and careers?

I’m in favour of a ‘Universal Basic Income for all.
It would mean that nobody would go without enough money to meet their basic needs to function in society and it would go part of the way to restoring dignity to all. Benefits for sickness/disability/unemployment/pension etc would be added.
Too many people are out of work because there aren’t enough suitable jobs, but some politicians choose to distort the reason why many people receive benefits.
I don't think ai is taking too many entry level jobs because mostly they are manual or skilled labour which machines can't yet do. They were talking for a while about a universal basic salary paid to everyone who is a British Citizen, they do this in another Scandinavian country I think. If you remember lock down It would probably be like that. It's a good idea open to immigrant (and resident) exploitation. But whether it would raise people out of poverty? Its hard to say if the jobs are taken or if they were just never created because there was no need there. If you mean people losing jobs to ai that is also hard to prove but I am sure it will set a precedent when it goes to law.
