NHS Employment Help

I saw the mental health nurse the other day and she offered to refer me to the local NHS' employment service. I was aware that they had these services, but there isn't much information about them on the internet. So I was just wondering if anyone here has used one?

Apparently they are part of local talking therapies services and can help people with long term illnesses to find jobs and also stay in work for those who already have a job.

  • yes have used but seemed to be 2 short phone calls - and once i told them I'd done what they asked me to do "ask Occupational Health to discuss reasonable adjustments" I was then signed off the service - so I think they have limited capacity to do much

Yes I was referred via Talking Therapies - and they did say I could self-refer back if needed.

TBH my Occ Health was via an outsourced provider and wasnt great 1 short 90 min conversation over 4 months ago and a very medicalized report for HR and I've heard nothing since - so not sure I got what I requested.  Until my bonus for last year is paid is April I'm not chasing anyone

I'm awaiting Access to Work support - which is a min of 30 wks wait at the moment - and have heard reports of funding being cut - so will have to see what that provides.

How about your union - have you approached them ? I would have though they are your best bet
