Any good places online to make friends?

I'm no good at making friends, but I think if you find websites and join groups of things you are interested in, it gives you something to talk about to others with. I'm sure there are lots of very obscure sites on the internet these days too suit everyone!

I think if you find a reputable site connected to a hobby you are interested in, they might have things like a discord channel to chat on?

No it's tricky, and I don't have the courage to go to groups in person. There was an art group started in the village, free and the focus being on wellbeing. I wouldn't have gone but someone messaged me and said about it, so I went with another mum. But I found it so hard and didn't know how to do small talk -my usual stuff is about the kids or the weather, but inside at night with mostly older women I had nothing to say and didn't get to sit next to the person I knew, and she knows everyone a lot more anyway.

I haven't been back as I just felt so out of place. 

I'm not actually that great with online places either, the anxiety normally gets to me, but people have been understanding about that here.
