UC MIGRATION

Has anyone been given reasonable adjustments so that they can migrate to UC. Without going into detail I currently cannot use a computer and the only option is the phone but not sure if that comes with problems. Please let me know if anyone did a phone application with, or without RA's in place.

Thank you

  • From what I remember the help place made an appointment not just with me but also for the UC people to take the call.

Glad you're feeling a little easier about it now.

  • Thanks again for getting back to me re this issue. You were lucky to have had such good support. I feel that I know more about the process now, as no one I asked knew much about it. Wish that I could remain on ESA, as it's causing me so much anxiety.

  • I don't have an autism passport, I just told them I get into a terrible flap when confronted with a form and I'm not very tech literate, they did the rest. Reasonable adjustments weren't something I asked for as the place I went to for help were really good and understanding.

You don't have so much faff when transfering as you do with making a new claim, they're just checking the info they have is correct and if I was confused at any point the helper stepped in and said I needed time to think or that I needed the question explained a bit better. I think it took about 45 mins to do the whole thing.

  • Thank you. Yes, I will have someone helping me - do you have an autism passport, and did you get reasonable adjustments?

  • It was all arranged by the person at the help centre I went to, one time the benefits people did need to phone and that was all arranged so I new to be at home and where I could access any documents I needed.

I felt much safer having someone else guide me through it and cut through all the questions that seem designed to catch you out or trip you up, their pressence also means that nobody can pressure you because of your ND.
