It sucks
I don’t know what it would be like living where you are right now but I’m sorry you are caught up in this.
From the news I’ve seen it seems that there are a lot of frightened people living in the US and there are a lot of frightened people living in other countries under threat by Trump et.al.
The disregard for International Law is deplorable.
I think if Trump did declare martial law there would be a civil war! You have so many weapons in the USA, I suspect many British people have never seen a real gun, even a hand gun, let alone the sort of military hardware that seems to be readily available there.
Trump will probably declare martial law and have him arrested.
Oh I hope not. That would set a new precedent that would snowball into so much arrests
Trump will probably declare martial law and have him arrested. He can't bear any opposition.
This stuff is what caused me to disassociate in my assessment. The physc asked my opinion on politics, I had said something about Trump being awful and racist and he started saying 'how can you say that...', at which point I couldn't cope, in my mind all the images of those ice agents kept flashing up and all the injustice flooded my head and I overloaded.
It's is upsetting when people can so easily deny what it happening. I know I need to have better control of myself, but it's hard when there is so much obvious injustice and people are happy with it.
If you haven’t seen yet, a couple days ago five blue states had billions of dollars cut for social services by the Trump Administration. It’s supposedly due to fraud by Democrats, but the Trump Administration’s best evidence I’ve seen so far has been a viral video by an influencer saying that Somali daycares in Minneapolis are empty and stealing money. My opinion? This is literally sacrificing innocent people for the sake of making political opponents and immigrants look bad.
Division? Absolutely. Bloodshed? Hopefully not.
I've never heard a mayor tell a government agency to F*** off before.
I know right?! I think my jaw dropped when I read what he said lol. Very bold to say that considering our current regime.
Things in Minnesota look bad, I hear it's all over the country that ICE are raiding. I think it outrageous that they have no identification, they could be anybody. I've never heard a mayor tell a government agency to F*** off before. Do you think this will spill over into more division and bloodshed?
So the thing is, most of the insanity you see in the news does not affect the average American UNLESS they are marginalized. Ex. Somali immigrants in Minnesota are being horribly treated right now. My family is white and has been citizens for generations, so they take the benefit of the doubt because they don’t see how miserable it is having a different racial/cultural background in the States right now. Even people who are naturalized citizens of America are afraid to go outside in certain cities because of the color of their skin.
It’s not particularly difficult being Autistic (yet!), but the hard thing is that there is so much misinformation about us that you have to be careful who you disclose your disability to.
Yeah… I mostly just saw the thing from yesterday and Venezuela but both are pretty bad
Not really anything that I’ve seen in person, but all the stuff in the news, everything seems either rude or just ridiculous. And everyone seems against eachother and trying to take away rights (like with immigrants, trans ppl, the stuff they’ve said about autism, etc). And that a lot of my family members voted for it and even after seeing the effects still like it
Yeah, I get it. This last week has been especially insane in the news.
My brother-in-law who has lived over there way before I got together with my husband (so over 22 years). They have been talking last year about moving to Ireland with his partner from the US, as they don't like it anymore.
I'm sorry, from the news it seems very polarised there at the moment. Is it difficult day-to-day?
