Overwhelmed post diagnosis

I had my assessment three weeks ago, post assessment I felt relieved and happy to have an explanation and the confirmation of what I felt like I always knew. However ever since that first day my emotions have changed massively, like I feel very agitated and upset. Alot of it seems to stem from having an answer at 29 years old, reflecting on the past a lot and not really knowing what my next steps are now I have the diagnosis.

Did anyone have a similar experience post diagnoses and do you have any tips for me?

  • It is only natural that you will go through some confusing emotions as you will inevitably reflect on your life through the new lens of autism. I was diagnosed in my early fifties so had a lot of life to reflect on.

Do not worry if you feel sadness or grief for all missed opportunities if only you knew then what you know. During this process remember to be kind to yourself, it is not your fault, you are broken just different. Welcome to the world of the 'Latelings'
