Sixty and just diagnosed

Hi I'm nearly 60 currently in hospital because of my autism. I'm newly diagnosed and desperate for help advice coping strategies and mostly friends

  • Hi and welcome to the community, really hope you can finally start to make sense of it all. I’m 58 and was only diagnosed in June this year. I listen to audiobooks by autistic people, they make sense of a lot of my past and struggles.

I can’t offer much help, for me recognising when a situation is too much for me was a start, sometimes just small adjustments can make life a lot more bearable. I thought for 50+ years that I was the only person who functions as I do, to find out there are others was mind blowing and in someways reassuring. Don’t be afraid to just ask questions on this forum , there’s normally someone here who has good  advice.
