TV ads

Hi there, apologies if I've posted this on the wrong page! Has anyone experienced any distressing behaviour due to all or part of a TV ad? My 5yr old boy becomes hysterical as soon as the First Direct ad starts. We're unable to establish what part of the ad affects him so but after tonight's episode I've tweeted First Direct, just so I could feel like I was doing something I guess!

As I say, apologies if I've posted this I the wrong page but if anyone else has experienced this I'd appreciate the info x

  • Hi - it cd be almost anything, cdn't it?  And if those closest to him cant suss it, then we can only offer very general suggestions.  I can't remember this ad!  Maybe it's sensory : the type of noise, loud, sudden, shrill??  Too bright?  If it affects him as soon as it comes on then presumably it's either got something to do with the beginning or it's because he's seen it before, remembers it well so the start is a trigger to bad memories.  He cd have developed a set of rules around this ad or other ads + this 1 breaks those rules.  Is he verbal?  If yes, then is he saying anything at all about it? As you don't know when it's going to appear on tv it must be difficult.  If he watches a particular channel because his fav progs are on it maybe he doesn't like the interruption somehow.  Ads are so difficult to avoid, apart from the bbc channels.  Wish  I cd be more useful, sorryUndecided
