Does anybody else finding sitting on a computer chair at their desk or a dining chair for long periods really awkward and uncomfortable…. I prefer sitting upside down but this isn’t socially acceptable in the work place

I use a kneeling stool, as I find them much more comfortable than a chair and its almost impossible to slump in them.
are you allowed to bring your own chair into the workplace or would it be some sort of risk
Most workplaces will supply one up to a certain value (especially if you register with HR as autistic and ask for one - top tip!) but if not you could bring your own in so long as you get approval from your manager and the office manager as health and safety may want to check it is not likely to remove fingers if used incorrectly.
My next step would be to get an ornamental banana for your desk and a plaque that says "librarian" so you can complete the image of symian intigration by uttering the odd "ook!" in meetings.

You could say you identify as a simian and if they do not allow this you will claim for discrimination.
I don't think there are many office chairs designed for this purpose though.

I usedt to have a good office chair when in the office and old dining chair when working from home - the office chair was way more comfortable for me as it had lumbar support and loads of adjustments of height, angle etc - plus you could have races across the office when the senior management were out.
You can pick up very reasonably priced ergonomic office chairs on the likes of Facebook Marketplace and with a deep clean they can be very good value.
