ADOS Scores

I had my diagnosis last December, but I wasn’t given a score. 

I can’t say if knowing a score would have helped me or not. The medical report that followed some weeks after diagnosis was very useful to me because it detailed my strengths and limitations, and illustrated how I get round some of the challenges, so I’m happy enough with that. Having an explanation why I struggle in some areas of daily life was the most helpful thing for me. 

Yeah, I like numbers so I often just want to look at them when I can see that isn't the point at all, not with something that is a spectrum condition. 

I think it's just my way of dealing with and processing the diagnosis. It's crazy to think I didn't have a clue until July this year.

That sound like a healthy way to think about it!

I have no idea what mine is. Not bothered. I got the diagnosis which was all I needed. I’ve not even read the full report as I found it too uncomfortable to read. 

It is not a competition to see who is more autistic. So avoiding numbers can help avoid that. Really you want to know what you struggle with, but it doesn't really tell you that, plus you probably already know anyway.

Okay, I will try not to focus on it, it's easy to become fixated on meaning, I can see why they don't want you to worry. If you don't know what it is all for anyway.

I scored 15 if that helps. I only have one number.

I asked as my assessment report didn't include specific scores, as they said people can get a bit focussed on numbers. The only thing is if you meet the criteria or not, the number is not so important.

You already know you "passed" so I am not sure what you do with the number(s).

Thank you, as I've been a bit startled by the results, it's hard to focus. I scored 16, with 10 on the social communication I think he said. I had thought I was getting the report today so I've been a little thrown off kilter.

I assume you will focus on the Assessment Interpretation section.

As it is a clinical assessment then much of it will be a bit jargony so let us know what parts you want made into clearer terms and I'm sure someone will help here.
