Bank has randomly stopped a DD

And I don't know why. I had a message from amazon saying the bank wouldn't honour the DD for my kindle account, I tried following all the links and put in the OTPC that I was sent and it still denied it, there's money in the account, they let me buy somethng from amazon yesterday afternoon. Amazon said I need to contact my bank to sort it out.Luckily I was going to Bangor tomorrow anyway, that's the nearest branch now. I'm not looking forward to visiting the bank as last time I was in there I had a minor spat with the manager who threatened to kick me out for complaining about the service I recieved. I know that I was being OK, as when I went to the then still open branch on the island there was a woman at the next till who'd had exactly the same expeience as me with the same woman over the same thing.

Now I'm in a flap in case I can't get my kindle account restored, WHAT WILL i READ!!!

  • the bank wouldn't honour the DD for my kindle account

A DD is a direct debit, which is a payment made directly from your bank account to theirs each time they request it, but I'm not aware that this is a payment method you can use for a Kindle.subscription? Mine is paid by a recurring debit card payment.

Do you know how to check your payment details? If you go to the Kindle home page, then tap/click the 3 lines with the word "more" underneath, a list will appear that includes "Kindle Unlimited membership". Click or tap that and all your membership details will appear, including your payment method which will show which card they are trying to take it from. You can update that, so if you have recently received a new card because your old one expired you can enter the replacement card details here. If your card hasn't expired, you can enter the details of another debit or credit card if you have another one. Or you can ask the bank to make Amazon Kindle a trusted supplier for your account.

Also when you are in your Kindle unlimited account, look at the section headed "Your membership plans". Mine shows "Your membership renews monthly for £9.49 a month". If it doesn't show that in your account, you might be able to change it to restart automatic monthly card payments.

I hope this is understandable and that I'm not already telling you stuff you know. Good luck.

  • yes thats the one I do, i still can't understand why it didn't work seeing as I used the same card to buy a kindle book yesterday and have used it for 3 or 5 months now, the bank refused it even when I went through all the stuff on my account page?
