Bank has randomly stopped a DD

And I don't know why. I had a message from amazon saying the bank wouldn't honour the DD for my kindle account, I tried following all the links and put in the OTPC that I was sent and it still denied it, there's money in the account, they let me buy somethng from amazon yesterday afternoon. Amazon said I need to contact my bank to sort it out.Luckily I was going to Bangor tomorrow anyway, that's the nearest branch now. I'm not looking forward to visiting the bank as last time I was in there I had a minor spat with the manager who threatened to kick me out for complaining about the service I recieved. I know that I was being OK, as when I went to the then still open branch on the island there was a woman at the next till who'd had exactly the same expeience as me with the same woman over the same thing.

Now I'm in a flap in case I can't get my kindle account restored, WHAT WILL i READ!!!

    If you can try to have the meeting with the clerk or manager (whoever will be helping) and keep emotion or accusations out of the conversation then you are much more likely to get the result you are after - ie the payment sorted.

    Phrase it as something like "my payment to Amazon is not going through so can you help me get it working please?". No allcation of blame and a neutral voice requesting their help.

    This is how I was trained to get the support you need, and hopefully you will find out why it didn't work at the end of the session so you can decide if you need to make a complaint.

    Making a complaint before getting the service is likely to cause you problems in getting the service itself.

    Everything you have downloaded into the kindle will continue to work I believe so it is only new purchases that will be an issue.

    Hopefully you will get it resolved easily and without fuss so you can carry on as usual.

  • The thing is Iain last time I wasn't being hostile or agressive I made a perectly reasonable complaint, the manager seemed to be one of those people who see any complaint as agression, I've encountered this on the phone before, but not in person. Hopefully she won't be there anymore or not tomorrow. I'm actually quite good at compalining and not making it personal to the person in front of me or on the other end of the phone, I've been in that position myself to many times to inflict it on someone else.

    Funny how you assume that I was being hostile and agressive and overly emotional, even though I said that the next day there was another customer in my normal branch who had exactly the same problem with the same manager?

    As I had bought a book yesterday and that had gone through alright and I know there are enough funds in my account, unless somethng has gone very wrong, it all seems a bit of a mystery. New purchases might not be an issue, the issue is with the DD for kindle unlimited which allows me as many books as I like from the unlimited selection that changes from month to month, that is what I use the most and it's great value for me who reads so much. I've been using this service hassle free for 5 years, so whats suddenly gone wrong?

    I'm used your conversational techniques as the basis of my assumption that you are being perceived as hostile - not that you intend it to be so.

    It is quite possibly your autistic communication issues but you often come across in your posts as angry / hostile and report about situation after situation where you have been in a confrontation of some kind.

    The suggestion I was making was to actively try to present as polite, questioning and solution seeking to see if it made a difference.

    This is not meant as criticism, rather a suggestion to try a different approach to see if it works better.

    I've been using this service hassle free for 5 years, so whats suddenly gone wrong?

    Has your card been reissued since the last payment to them? I had a similar issue with mine not long ago as a subscription was based off the older verision of the card that had a different expiry date / security code that had since expired.
