Recently diagnosed - looking for psychatrist who could prescribe medication

 I am 50 and recently diagenosed ADHD /ASD 

I have my assessment done privately but it does not include precription

I am looking for Psychiatrist who can prescirbe medication as my GP only continue the treatment ONCE initiated by a psychiatrist 

Please advice / sign post if you have any information

  • Your GP should be able to prescribe anti-anxiety meds, anti-depressants, sleeping tablets etc as well as talking therapies. As far as I'm aware there are no specific meds for Autism or ADHD that anyone can prescribe. 

    What sort of medication do you feel you need, if thats not to rude a question?

    There are specific medications that can be appropriate for people with ADHD.

    They are specified in the NICE guidelines. My reply below and the linked resources explain more.

    I have been on antidepressant for 17 years- that medication certainly did not work during my menopause when my ASD/ ADHD got worse - I need a psychiatrist to change my medication as my GP is not willing to change my tablets - GP is willing for shared care but not happy to initiate the treatment ( Sertraline or similar )  

    I have had private ASD/ ADHD assessment and paid a lot - a private psychiatrist is gonna charge more - can’t afford anymore :-(
