Now I'm scared

Starmer has announced that he's introducing digital ID cards and as yet theres no alterantive for those of us with no smart phones, althought "they're going to consult" on it, who with or how we don't know. But quite frankly this news has me really scared, terriied, I'm shaking and may have to take some anti-anxiety meds.

I can see a situation where my Mum, me and a few of our neighbours are going to be illegal in our own country and unable to access services.

  • It just seems that they are trying to crack a nut with a sledgehammer. From what I understand it's about proving your right to be here and to access services.

It just seems a bit unnecessary and probably massively costly. I suppose it'll fill the gaps for the ones of us the may not have a passport or drivers licence, it'll also fix the issues around requiring ID to vote.

Some people don't have or don't want smartphones, will there be an alternative?

  • If it’s a government Id it probably won’t be accepted as photo ID for opening banks etc snd thats where I would have an issue with it and also please just make it a physical card becuase digital documents can be forget so much easier
