Looking for friends as someone who is going through the assessment process

hey everyone, i am 28F and recently i was referred to a therapist who has referred me for an autism assessment, originally i was in therapy for bipolar/bpd but my therapist is certain its autism (although she cannot diagnose) which makes a lot of sense because ive always had a suspicion i was autistic. anyway, i have always struggled to make friends, i have a very healthy and stable relationship and adore spending time with him but i miss having friends. i have always found it easier to have friends online than in person. Sorry, i feel like im rambling here but needed to get my thoughts down haha.

i am into

  • crafting (i would say this is my safe place and special interest)
  • gaming (i mainly play switch and sometimes xbox)
  • reading

anyway sorry if i rambled Slight smile

  • Hi I am a reader and a crafter. What are the crafts you like and the type of books you like to read?
I am also in the process of assessment. My therapist suggested I could go for assessment. I have a life time of anxiety and intermittent depression and self harm. Despite having a relatively nice life I have always found things very difficult. I’m pretty sure I am autistic, I would definitely bet a bit of money that I am.
I love an online chat and always look on here at least every day. I hope you like it here smiling face with hearts

  • Hello there Slight smile i like to make tshirts, bags and cards mainly but i also do like personalised items such as cups and mugs :) what about you? my favourite things to read tend to be young adult fictions, my favourite book i read recently was .they all die at the end. it was great :) what books do you like? and it sounds like weve had very similar experiences i also have had a life time of anxiety/depression/self harm. i find online chatting easier because i find in person i have to mask, where as online i have chance to be myself because i dont have that feeling of judgement :) always happy to chat and loving it here so far Slight smile definitely look into an assessment :)

  • I am waiting for my assessment, should be next year.  I also love chatting online as face to face I have some lovely friends but find it tiring and also struggle to keep up with conversations in groups (there is nothing wrong with my hearing though).  I am a knitter and a crocheter and make things to wear for myself and babies, which give to a charity who give to families in need. I love reading all types of books, I think I have the one you said but I haven’t read it yet. My favourite book is The secret garden, I have read it many many times since I was a child.  I also love the Heartstopper series.

  • There are definitely a lot of options for different art styles on there, im also not that great at drawing i just find it relaxing haha Slight smile

  • I would love to do art on the iPad, I might look into that. I imagine you can do some very different styles of art on there. I like drawing but I’m not very good at it… my art is 3D.

  • Sex education was a great show! and thats good that you can take it with you sometimes :) i do digital drawings on my ipad a lot so i tend to carry that round with me incase something sparks my interest and i want to draw it :) thats super cool that youre making a jumper for yourself though! id love to see it when its done :) but i totally agree when it comes to crafting i wish there were more hours in the day. :)

  • I also really loved Sex Education, it made me laugh and cry and I loved so many of the characters. I have watched it a few times. Crochet was difficult to learn but now I have the hang of it it is so easy. I usually have a few projects going at a time, some of them I take when I go out and will sit in the park on a bench to do but some of the blankets are too big so I only do them at home. I’m making a jumper for myself at the moment and also have made one of a pair of socks. I wish there were more hours in the day.

  • Ah sorry i must have read the message wrong, good luck with the assessment when the time comes! im hoping mine will be sometime next year too. i totally understand what you mean about struggling to keep up with conversations in groups, i cant cope when its too many voices at once, i just end up hearing none of them haha. ah cool! i tried crochet but i found it too fiddly for me and i could never work out how to make it work, but that is lovely that you donate things to families in need :) i definitely recommend that book, and ive never read the secret garden, maybe ill check it out :) i also enjoyed the heartstopper series, my favourite series is either skins or the walking dead, although ive never been one to be big into TV series, im more of a movie person haha :)
