Help with attack by neighbour and police refusing to let me report it

Hi, I hope someone can help.
I am diagnosed with Autism and PTSD (trauma from authority figures).
I was recently attacked by my neighbour.
I requested to police that my social worker be present and for them to send officers specially trained in vulnerable victims so I can report the crime. I have a fear of authority figures and communication from normal police causes me to have panic attacks.
Police interpreted that request to mean that I didn't want to cooperate with the investigation and closed the case.
Police refused to respond to an email from my social worker asking them to re-open the case.
I'm terrified to leave my home. I saw the neighbour out my window in the communal garden yesterday and had a panic attack.
Can anyone help? I have rubbish piling up in cupboards because I'm scared to take it outside. My home stinks and it's only a matter of time before it makes me sick.
I am bringing a court claim against police but the process is extremely slow and I need help ASAP.

  • Hello Nick, I'm sorry to hear you find yourself in this situation.

I have rubbish piling up in cupboards because I'm scared to take it outside.

As a purely practical suggestion, could you take it out at nightime when everyone else is asleep? This can help you live in a claner environment at least.

I have a fear of authority figures and communication from normal police causes me to have panic attacks.

Do you have any family members of friends who can act as an intermediary here? Could they report it on your behalf and possibly be there when the police want to talk to you?

I am bringing a court claim against police

Have you had any legal advice from a solicitor yet? I think this will be a very hard case to prove unfortunately as the police have tried to engage with you already even though they do not seem to have used the specially trained officers.

If you can get an intermediary to call and talk this over with them then you should at least get to know if they have any trained officers available and, if so, schedule one to help you.

I think this is more likely to work to solve the issues here rather than suing them.

All this is just my thoughts and what I would consider doing in your situation, It isn't legal advice as we cannot offer this here.

    Good luck.
