Is listening to the same songs again and again, more common in autistic people?

Probably all people do this, but I just wonder whether there is some known difference, and how it is for you.

Do you think you listen to the same songs more times than other people?

  • Yes! It's me my whole life. I fixate on one track and listen to it endlessly,  few hours per day, or whole day if possible,  for weeks or months and I usually pace my room during listening and I enjoy it deeply, every note every instrument in the music. Since my teens I listen to music only on my headphones for this reason - I heard few times from others, that they would vomit if they had yo listen to one track so many times. And I'm also very much inflexible when it comes to genre. I fixate only on one genre and usually one or two artists and I listen their songs like this.

Music also causes me having kind of movies in my head, or I imagine some situations or conversations.  Now im stuck witha scenario of conversation with David Grusch about aliens. But as a teen I had my imagined friends.  I had no real friends although I craved friendships so much, I was bullied a lot and misunderstood. Only my imagined friends understood me and didn't bully me fir oversharong, for example. So music is always very important for me, and I experience it deeply.

  • Fixating on a song is not only good sometimes it can be productive thats how I got into playing songs
