Probably all people do this, but I just wonder whether there is some known difference, and how it is for you.
Do you think you listen to the same songs more times than other people?

I frequently do this with a hard core of pieces of Music - often when I'm working. I find it helps a lot. If it's a particular piece of music that I love then I will replay it just to hear a bit that I don;t remember hearing the first time around. And then again, and again. Sometimes it's got to be classical, other times, it could be hard rock or heavy metal.
As someone trained in music (well, a bit) I get a lot of stimulation from different harmony arrangements, or then again, something simple.
Who knew two laughs in one day!!
Glad that you laughed :-) I am confident that you will use it wisely Lonehare12 and maybe even some people will get it! (though maybe not like they used too...) :-)
Ha ha
Thanks Lonehare12 tho' my reference to a playlist was purely coincidental I am pleased that you found enjoyment through it :-) I am reminded of a joke: "nostalgia? - not what it used to be... " best wishes
Yes, listening to the same song on repeat is a common example of autistic stimming (self-stimulating behaviour).
There's more information about it here - where listening to the same song is mentioned within the "Hearing" bullet point:
I think the world might be a better place if she was.
I couldn't get through life without music. It's that one thing that's always there and it's a comfort knowing there's a song I can always put on to help me get through stuff.
I think the calm and relaxed thing is so relevant. I have a 25 year old son and he used to study with his headphones on. I used to wonder how he did it. But now with my recent diagnosis I understand how much it helps
It really is a big help isn't it? I really wish my school had allowed headphones for music for helping you relax and stay calm because it helps so many people.
I'm glad you and your son have found music helps you too.
Tay Tay for president of the world haha
Oh cool playlist!!
It's romantic and a bit classical.
Lots on there I know but had forgotten about.
It's gives me a sense of nostalgia some how. :-)
"Non, rien de rien" for me on this one ( :-) ). Although I have listened to the same podcasts over and over again and do prefer repetition and predictability in many other things. Speaking from observation tho' fellow autists that I know have song playlists that are very important to them. The same can be said for neurotypical people that I know too. I do not know whether any comparative studies have been made on this between autism and neurotypical.
