The US has, sadly, become George Orwell's 1984. Stupidity is lauded and blind adherence to vicious policies is rewarded.

It’s a real concern the next 4 years or so. Let’s hope democracy wins 2028 or it’s gone forever. 

Yeah, Trump’s going to run again. He’s not supposed to run for a third term, but he will. So long as they can keep pretending he’s healthy enough.

That's what Putin did, playing swapsies with the titles of president and prime minister with a handy stooge.

He wouldn’t be the first president to do a third term regardless of the amendment. FDR has that honor.

It’s either that or he keeps the country in a state of approaching civil war so elections get cancelled. I expect he shall try crush the competition first misusing his presidential powers. I just cannot see him not trying to stay in power this time around, he would take it as too big of a loss for his ego.

I'd missed that possibility. The 22nd amendment prevents him from being elected president for a third time, but it doesn't prevent him from being a vice president. If I were President Vance, I'd go peacefully!
