The US has, sadly, become George Orwell's 1984.
I think 1930s Germany would be a more realistic parrallel:
- A Dramatic Return to Power After Political Exile
- Failed Coups
- Dictators & Elder Statesmen
- Persecutory Tendencies
- Disdain for Multilateral Agreements
- Leveraging Economic Instability for Political Gain
- Employment of Propaganda & Fake News
- Their Respective Friend Groups
- Expansionism: Conquer or Die
- The Pandoras Box Problem

I often wonder how the UK government (of whatever colour) would behave if the USA went all out fascist.
Would the UK follow its lead, cherry pick the bits they wanted or stand in defiance?
I'm thinking it would follow suit - our population lack the willpower to resist effectively and the governments of recent years have stolen their ability to do so plus are keeping you under constant surveillance so can pre-empt resistance.
The UKs goose is already cooked I think, regardless of how the USA moves
