    If it helps, you could further break down each goal into small attainable steps that would go towards achieving the end goal. Successfully doing that can build confidence through achievement.

    For example, for your first goal of getting off benefits, you have already set a smaller goal of finding work that you feel good about. That could be broken down further by thinking of how you might find the work, eg, go to job centre, search employment agencies, complete a course, make out a CV, call with potential employers. 

    it is important to only set goals that you have a realistic chance of attaining, otherwise failure can negatively affect your mental health. 

    Goals are not set in stone and you can always modify or change them. 

    I think it is important to tell yourself “well done!” When you achieve even a tiny step.
