Going to bed

Does anyone else on here struggle to go to bed? We have a real problem with this in my family. We always mean to go to bed at about 11pm but we always actually end up going to bed at about 2am. It’s a habit we seem to find so hard to break. It’s annoying.

  • Yes this is a problem for me too. I always intend to go to bed at 11 but where the night is so peaceful and people free I think I like it so much my body refuses to shut down and sleep.

At night I can be myself, I don't have to hide away and it feels good because it's like a time I can really breathe and relax.

I've always struggled with sleeping though. When I was younger my mum would put me to bed for school and then I'd be awake and out of bed again lol. She found it extremely frustrating apparently Joy

Have you tried creating a sleep schedule? I've read that this can help you create a routine and improve your sleep. I'm currently trying one but not had a lot of success yet.

I hope you can find something that works for you and can at least have a little comfort knowing that a lot of us have the same issue Slight smile

  • Yes - I’m sure you’re right that we need to create some kind of schedule or routine. We really do struggle with doing that - we just get so tired and unmotivated at night (probably due to not going to bed early enough - it’s a vicious circle!). Like you I think we like the evening as it’s ’our time’ and we don’t want it to end. Also we hate cleaning our teeth (I know this sounds childish but it’s just a fact!) and I thing we keep putting that off too - so that delays us. Plus if we start watching a film we always want to watch it to the end to find out what happens. We just have poor discipline too essentially! I’m not proud of it but it’s just the way we are. Sometimes we feel so useless to not do better with this! You’re right - it does feel good to know we’re not alone in this respect!
