Going to bed

Does anyone else on here struggle to go to bed? We have a real problem with this in my family. We always mean to go to bed at about 11pm but we always actually end up going to bed at about 2am. It’s a habit we seem to find so hard to break. It’s annoying.

having a routine and being resistant to changing it are very autistic traits, so now you know this applies you can do something about it.

I would suggest agreeing with everyone to set a new routine where you don't drink after say 9pm, have a bedtime routine that starts at -say- 11pm and it is lights out by mindnight at the latest.

Set alarms for the 9pm and 11pm slots to remind yourselves until it becomes automatic.

Once you have done this for a week it becomes much easier to follow and after the 2nd week it becomes more difficult to consider changing - you are re-writing your neural pathways around this event and adjusting your body clock to the new routine.

That first week is the hard one but getting everyone on board with it will make it much easier to follow.

Pretty simple to do once you can build the concensus and use a small amount of discipline.
