Sims 4 discussion thread

I have seen people posting that they enjoy playing Sims, so I thought I'd start a discussion thread.

Last year I started a project to build lots of different homes and buildings in Sims 4 - I had a few months break during the winter, and I re-started it a couple of months ago. I've finished building now and I'm doing a play through. I replaced most of the pre made homes and households and made a lot more. I built homes in various designs including Art Deco, Gothic, a 1960s bungalow, a Christmas themed cottage, a house boat, a lighthouse, and a space shuttle style home. I built restaurants including 50s style diners, a cowboy saloon one, a star wars themed one, a Chinese restaurant, a Japanese one and an Indian one in the shape of the Taj Mahal. I also built several museums, including a science & technology museum, a transport museum, a natural history museum (in the shape of an elephant), one in a castle, a space exhibition on top of an apartment block, and a sea life centre with an aquarium section.

I also created lots of new sims to populate the homes I built, and as I don't like the  "townies" the game generates I've been editing them in household management and changing their names. I like to choose names to suit characters or that have a theme, so the residents Oasis Springs are all aliens and have space related names, most residents in Sulani are mermaids and have sea related names, many city residents have City names (such as Vienna Street)  I renamed the local mail carriers Angel Messenger and Hermes Letterman, and my sim household employs a gardener called Heather Gardener.

The packs I have are:

Best: Dream home decorator (great furniture, best interactive career) Tiny Living (great lot perks) Island Living (the most beautiful, has mermaids, and the island life aspiration stops Sims getting tense) Dine Out (I love building restaurants!) City living, Journey to Batuu (just for the droids & lightsabres)

Ok: Home chef hustle, Nifty Knitting, Spa Day, Horse Ranch, Crystal Creations, Vintage Glamour, Cottage Living, Discover University (not for degrees, only like the robot building)

Least favourite: Vampires, Get to work, Cats & dogs, Snowy escape, Laundry Day, Eco Lifestyle

  • Update - I'm still playing Sims 4 and I've just finished playing a rags to riches story with a Sim called Faith, where I started her with just a plot of land, a shed containing a toilet and sink and a tent to sleep in, and no funds. She finished with a £200k house and over half a million in the bank. I completed the Master Maker, Nectar maker, Mount Korembi sightseer, Inner peace and Championship rider aspirations for the first time, and she visited the alien planet of Sixam after reaching the top of the scientist career and building a wormhole generator.

Faith was.one of the most unlucky Sims I've ever played. She got killed in her garden by a falling meteor and I had to use my God powers to revive her (exiting without saving & reloading) and later she almost died in a fire at the laboratory where she was working. She was also unlucky in love - found a partner after dating many candidates but then got suspicious he was cheating and broke up.with him. So I created her the perfect partner called Theo (the name means gift from God) and they married after a whirlwind romance. I do like a happy ending

So, if any Simmers are actually reading this - what aspirations are you planning to do? What are your favourite ones? What stories are you playing?

  • I love playing The Sims 4 but have transitioned to console from PC. I have the game and EPs but am just trying to get used to the different controls. I have been focussing on Disney Dreamlight Valley a lot too which is another similar game.

Sounds like you're really good at creating interesting stories and enjoy build and buy mode as much as live mode too? I know a lot of players stick to just BB mode, CAS or live play.
