I don't have any autistic friends

Hello everyone I am taking a break from social media but I am trying to connect more to people here. I find that there are some toxic people out there who know how to hurt me when I am vulnerable so I have to distance myself from them. I'm really sad at the moment but I still need to interact with people other than my husband. Not that there's anything wrong with him but he's my person and I don't want to always put everything on him. I tried to post yesterday but I guess my post didn't go through.

  • I've just read your profile

I've learned something new tonight - I would never have thought of reading someone's profile to know more about them!

(Another useful thing I've learned - the quote function on this forum is impossible on a phone, had to switch to my laptop to write this...)

Hello KL, welcome. I personally have found this community more fulfilling than any social media platform, though I still wish I could do more in-person conversations - it's good for what it is, it's just a bit harder when you have to wait for replies (or not get replies at all given the nature of a forum). Anyway, it's better than nothing.

Someone else said this too which I agree with - it would be nice to know more about you, then maybe you'll find some people with shared interests. For me I am a software developer by day and a father too of 3 children. When I have limited free time I try to catch up on my (growing) backlog of video games I want to play and TV shows/films I want to watch. The last thing I watched was X-Men 97 (I'm slow on trends), which I thought was better than I was expecting, and me and my wife just finished watching Sherwood which was excellent.

  • Hi P, thanks for replying. Yes I am still getting the hang of this site and so far I like this a lot. I already got so many replies and it made me feel better about myself at least for right now. I am replying to everyone right now and I didn't think I would even get many comments or new friends but I think it was a good idea to join this.

I have Sherwood on my saved list of things to watch. I don't know if anyone else does this but I like to rewatch things I saw already until I need another break from it but I always go back to the same shows, movies, video games, etc.

But I also like seeing new shows because sometimes then I rewatch those too!

That's really cool that you are a software developer. I always thought that was so cool and interesting, yet hard to understand. But cool nonetheless. The most technical thing I do with technology is make music. I tried to do animation one time but I had a lot of trouble learning it and gave up. Maybe I'll pick it back one day.

    Nice to meet you!
